How did you learn English, Как вы изучаете английский язык

Btw, I have heard recently that if you dedicate 40 minutes every day for learning the language, you will recognize improvements pretty soon! 10 min for writing, 10 for reading, 10 for listening and 10 for speaking. Maybe, I have even read this information on this subforum :lol:

Do you agree that when you split the goal of 40 minutes into 4x10 minutes, it looks much smaller and easier to reach?

Supreme, that's an interesting fact. I'd like to think that's true, because practicing for 40 mins every day is a really good commitment.

I personally think that 10 mins might not be enough to focus on anything in particular. I'd rather write for 40 mins and actually get involved in that activity, as opposed to just starting ans finishing it right away, in 10 mins.

Maybe changing the activity every day would work? You read for 40 mins on Monday, write for 40 mins on Tuesday, etc?

Supreme, I think any skill can be improvet, if you practice regulary. But i can't force myself, just don't feel motivation :(
But when I studied day after day during for a couple of months, my level grew fron full zero to "can understand a simple adaptive text". Only the skill of writing/speaking still bad.

On this topic, I want to try to keep a dairy on English. What do you think about? Has somebody tried this method?

Потомучтозачем, I think your writing skills are pretty good.

Starting a diary is a great idea. Maybe we can turn it into a contest here, in English? :) I'll create a "Dairy contest" and we will all post a little bit about our days. It doesn't have to be a lot, and it doesn't need to be every day either. Just something simple, interesting.

Hi everybody!
I started learning English when I was 5 years old and I lived in Turkey. My teacher was from America, so now I have the best accent, pronunciation, well, the best English in school — I speak American like native speaker. My teachers say that not even an adult can make this progress just learning English. They call my accent «a gift from God», but I don’t think so.

Джинна Мориарти, that's a great story! How come you guys got a native American speaker from the States to come to Turkey and teach? Is there some sort of an exchange program in place?

I guess this topic is the most suitable place to talk about my english lessons)
So. I decide to study english. I passed the written test at language center, I felt confident in my answers. But suddenly then I had to talk on english maybe first time in my life! Furthermore, with native speaker! So I passed the speaking not so good))
However, the administrator said my level is upper intermidiate and she enrolled me in the corresponding class. I already visited 4 lessons, and I am already less afraid to talk)

Well actually I don't study this language. I'd better speek French, sometimes I think in it, but I really don't want to lose this one.
