Idaho man runs marathon while wearing 125 T-shirts

A serial Guinness World Record breaker completed a marathon in under 6 hours while under the weight of a staggering 125 T-shirts.

David Rush, who holds the most concurrent Guinness World Records titles, said he decided to take on the title for the most t-shirts worn during a marathon after setting the half-marathon version of the record with 137 T-shirts at the 2025 Famous Idaho Potato Half Marathon.

"In the heat of that victory, I felt invincible. I thought, 'If I can do this for 13 miles, I can easily double it.' That was a classic case of pride coming before a very painful fall," Rush wrote online.

Rush spent months training for the attempt by running with heavy weights and thick layers of clothing.

He ran the 2026 YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon on May 16 while wearing 125 shirts.

Artist sells out of trash collected from Taylor Swift's wedding

Taylor Swift fans caused an artist to sell out of some unique merch: trash collected from outside the singer's wedding to Travis Kelce in New York.

Justin Gignac dressed in a tuxedo to collect trash from the streets outside Madison Square Garden after the July 3 wedding, and arranged the pieces into small sculptures encased in airtight plastic cubes.

The trash collected by Gignac includes cigarette butts, paper cups, plastic straws, scraps of fabric, an ovulation test kit, plastic bags, candy wrappers and a single left AirPod.

"There's garbage on the floor after the party. Collected from the edge of a love story outside Madison Square Garden, as close to Taylor & Travis' big day as you could've gotten without an invite," Gignac wrote on his website.

He said in an Instagram post that his manner of dress caused some fans outside the venue to confuse him for a wedding guest, but he explained all of his trash came from outside the celebration.

Bear enters mall on Alaska military base, poops on floor

A black bear wandered into the shopping mall on Alaska's Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to eat a single peach and defecate on the floor before leaving.

The bear was caught on camera entering the Exchange shopping mall on the base — which is commonly known by the acronym JBER, pronounced "J-bear" — about 9 a.m. Sunday.

The bear entered the Commissary, ate a single peach and pooped on the floor before vacating the building, officials said.

A JBER spokesperson said Conservation Law Enforcement escorted the bear away from the base and into the nearby woods.

The spokesperson said no humans or bears were injured. They said bear encounters on the base have decreased substantially since wildlife-resistant dumpsters were installed in May.

Pitbull fans don bald caps to break Guinness World Record in London

A Pitbull concert in England featured a Guinness World Record being broken when 22,141 fans donned bald caps to emulate the singer's look.

The Friday concert, part of the BST Hyde Park festival in London, featured 22,141 fans wearing bald caps, with many of them also donning aviators and leather jackets to mimic Mr. Worldwide's look from the "Back in Time" music video.

The event officially broke the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps.

"To be able to pursue my dream and be on the stage like this, represent with all the baldies around the world. This is priceless. There's no way I can say thank you. There is no words I can say what I feel right now," NME quoted Pitbull as telling the assembled crowd.

School district changes policy after student graduates with 11.99 GPA

A Florida school district is changing the way it calculates grade point averages after a student graduated with a record-breaking 11.99 GPA.

Vaibhav Bhaskar, who graduated as valedictorian of Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, finished school with an 11.99 weighted GPA, breaking the state record of 11.84 set by Gaither High School graduate Dylan Mazard in 2022.

Bhaskar was able to achieve such a high GPA due to Hillsborough County's policy of awarding bonuses beyond the standard 4.0 straight-A score for Advanced Placement and Duel Enrollment courses. The student took 20 AP classes during his high school tenure, and completed 24 Dual Enrollment college courses via the University of Florida's online program — enough to earn him an associate's degree.

Hillsborough County's school board recently voted to change its policy and place a cap on GPAs that will take effect as of next year's graduating class, ensuring Bhaskar's record will never be duplicated or beaten in the district.

Colombia theme park installs world's largest piggy bank

A theme park in Colombia paid tribute to the local pottery tradition by creating the world's largest piggy bank out of ceramic.

The ceramic pig at Mano del Artesano — Pueblito de Barro in Ráquira stands 29 feet and 6.3 inches tall, measures 33 feet and 11.8 inches long and weighs in at roughly 30 tons.

The hollow pig has a working coin slot, where visitors can drop their change to be donated to local animal shelters.

The inside of the pig, which can be visited by guests, features a gallery dedicated to the history of ceramic piggy bank creation in the region. There is also a lookout point on the pig's nose for guests to enjoy the view.

Guinness World Records Adjudicator Natalia Ramirez used satellite technology to calculate the pig's precise measurements for the title of the world's largest piggy bank.

Basketball player sinks shots from over 80 feet to break world records

An Egyptian basketball player put his skills to the ultimate test by breaking two Guinness World Records, including one held by a Harlem Globetrotter.

Alie Wessam, 21, took to the gym to break the records for the farthest basketball hook shot and the farthest basketball shot made backwards in the same day.

He managed the hook shot record with a distance of 82 feet and 10 inches, and the backwards shot from a distance of 90 feet and 6 inches.

The backwards shot record was previously held by Harlem Globetrotters star Corey "Thunder" Law, who made a shot from 87 feet and 8 inches in 2024.

"It's an incredible feeling. I've watched the Harlem Globetrotters since I was a child, so breaking one of their records is something I never imagined would happen," Wessam, who played for the Egyptian National Basketball Team, told Guinness World Records.

31,075 skydives recorded on one day in 43 countries

A total 31,075 coordinated skydives took place in 43 countries in a single day to break a world record for the most recorded skydives completed in a single day.

Saturday's World Skydiving Day event, coordinated by the U.S. Parachute Association (USPA), Australian Parachute Federation, British Skydiving and Canadian Sport Parachuting Association, surpassed the previous record of 30,351 jumps, established in 2024.

Organizers said the event included skydivers of all skill levels, including first-time tandem jumpers.

"Records are made to be broken, and we're excited that tens of thousands of people from around the world were able to make their way to a drop zone and celebrate our sport," USPA Executive Director Albert Berchtold said in a news release.

"This record signifies the continued growth of the sport, welcoming newcomers and celebrating experienced skydivers who have made a significant commitment to skydiving."

Bear takes a dip in Colorado woman's backyard kiddie pool

A Colorado black bear was caught on camera beating the summer heat by taking a dip in a resident's backyard kiddie pool.

Katie Cole shared video from the bear's visit to the pool she had filled with water on the deck in her backyard in the Steamboat Springs area.

Cole said the pool is there for use by her dogs, but she was happy the bear was able to use it to cool off from the summer heat.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife warned early in the summer that bear sightings in the state were likely to increase due to drought conditions. CPW recorded 98 bear sightings as of late April, compared to a total 127 statewide for all of 2025.

Man uses plunger to pop balloons for Guinness World Record

A serial Guinness World Record breaker from Germany armed himself with a plunger to pop 60 balloons in 30 seconds.

Andre Ortolf, 32, took the record for the most balloons popped with a plunger in 30 seconds from American Kevin Daane, who set the record at 23 in 2025.

"It was a lot of fun. I really enjoy attempting unusual and entertaining records, and this one definitely made me smile. It's one of those challenges that's just as enjoyable to watch as it is to attempt," Ortolf told Guinness World Records.

"I've always enjoyed balloon-related world records because they're fun and entertaining. When I came across the idea of popping balloons with a plunger, I thought it was such a ridiculous and amusing challenge that I simply had to give it a try," he said.

Ortolf said he believes there is still room to improve on his record.
